In celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge, Tabla Rasa Gallery presents BRIDGE as ICON. This exhibition offers artwork inspired by the world's best known bridge. The universally recognized Gothic arches provide a soaring visual metaphor for the spirit of ingenuity. As the omnipresent symbol of Brooklyn itself, the bridge has been an inspiration for poetry, cinema, music, advertising, as well as painting and graphic arts. Whether literal or symbolic, each artwork captures an individual essence of connection.
Original contemporary paintings, photographs, and works on paper will be on display, along with vintage bookplates and prints.
Among the artists exhibiting in BRIDGE as ICON are:
Ginger Andro & Chuck Glicksman Bascove Stephen Basso Ramona Candy Michael Dalton Simon Dinnerstein Gregory Frux Cesar Garcia Joergen Geerds Irma King Vijay Kumar Sangbin IM Philomena Marano Agnes Murray Florence Neal Lucy Nurkse Bernette Rudolph Nick Savides Pierre Vincent.
The gallery is located at 224 48th Street, between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in SPArC (Sunset Park Artists' Community). From Manhattan, "D" train to 36 Street in Brooklyn, cross platform, and take "R" train one stop to 45th Street. Parking is available.
Tabla Rasa Gallery is free and open to the public Thursday through Saturday, noon until 5 pm, Call for additional hours and summer schedule updates call (718).833.9100.

Tabla Rasa Gallery in collaboration with Danny Simmons and Daniel Scheffer presented PUMP IT UP! a special fundraising event for Playpumps International
http://www.playpumps.org/
donations are still being accepted more info click here
Tabla Rasa Gallery is happy to accept checks made out directly to Playpumps International, with 100% of the proceeds going to Playpumps International.
Playpumps International has also created a special indication for on-line donations resulting from the PUMP IT UP! outdoor "Paint-in" event, at Tabla Rasa Gallery.
We thank those the participating artists and visitors and hope you will continue to help us raise funds for the installation of desperately needed water pumps, powered by children's playground equipment, for remote villages in Africa. The 2 minute video on the http://www.playpumps.org/ website link will clarify how the ingeniously simple system works. Tabla Rasa Gallery is donating all organizing, administrative, promotional and event-related expenses. We are appreciative of the generous in-kind donations (Dick Blick Artists Supplies), support for materials (Rush Philanthropic) and individual pledges that we have already received.
Artists Danny Simmons and Daniel Scheffer led in producing a large mural artpiece. At the end of the day, the mural was cut up and for a donation of $50 per square foot the donors were given a piece of this artwork. Donors are encouraged to donate more and receive more square footage of this memorable keepsake and make a greater contribution to the Playpump.org cause.
Playpumps International has created an on-line donation link for the PUMP IT UP! outdoor "Paint-in" event on October 7, at Tabla Rasa Gallery: www.playpumps.org/tablarasa
There is still time to make a donation.
We encourged sponsorship at theses levels: $ 50, $100, $150, $200, $500, $ etc
